A lot of interest among graphic artists has always been linked to graphic tablets (or what these are usually called pen tablets). These gadgets are usually developed for a rather small target market, so the interest among general public often fades away quickly. Recently, however, Wacom introduced a new pen display, dubbed PL-900, which might have the charisma to maintain a high level of interest among users. This is mainly due to the fact that the PL-900 provides not only the ability to write and navigate onto a 19-inch monitor, but in addition offers a lot of striking features. The PL-900 graphic tablet from Wacom has:
1. SXGA resolution of 1280 x 1024 pixels;
2. Video scaler feature able to support wide-format input;
3. Standard 4:3 aspect ratio. However, if connected to other hardware such as a widescreen laptop, the ration automatically changes to 16:9.
The upper mentioned features are related to the tablet itself, but the pen also has something to boast:
1. It is cordless;
2. Has an ergonomic design;
3. It's battery free.
In addition, the pen offers a 512 pressure levels and a double side-switch that can be programmed. The tablet from Walcom uses a special technology that allows the user to minimize the pen's jitter, thus significantly improving its usability.It is worth mentioning that the PL-900 provides advanced video features due to the fact that it includes both a DVI-I input and a DVI-I output, thus one can use either an analogue or a digital video source. Wacom's PL-900 operates perfectly with computers that run on Windows or Mac OS. Its price is around $ 1,700.
