Sony to Develop New 3D Technology for Gamers

Nov 26, 2010
In an interview, Sony's Mick Hocking mentioned that the company is currently working on projects that go beyond 3D television.

"We also have techniques like holographics for the PS3 that I think will be very interesting for the future 3D games," said Hocking. However, that is not all that the Japanese tech giant is currently working on.

Sony develops a new technology for gamers. The technology makes use of 3D techniques and allows 2 players to engage in full screen multiplayer games. At the same time the two players will not be able to see each other's view.

Still, according to website Games Radar, it is still too early for a PS3 branded volumetric display device. Sony's new technology sounds like a 3D alternative to split-screen multiplayer.

If developed, the technology will allow each user to view an entire screen, thus eliminating cheating and allowing gamers to focus on their own screen, without being distracted from what the other player does in the neighboring screen.
