New Open Computer - Powerful Mac Clone PC

Mar 18, 2009
Despite its court battle with Apple over the use of the latter's Mac OS X operating system, Psystar probably decided to heat up its situation by launching a new Open Computer model.

The company says that its new Open (3) is going to be "Smaller, Faster and Sexier". In addition, the device will feature Intel's E7400 Core2Duo processor that runs at 2.8GHz.

Open (3) is 50 percent faster and 47 percent smaller than its predecessor. Currently the new computer's standard configuration features a 500GB SATA storage, and GeForce 8400GS video card with 256MB of dedicated video memory.

Among the optional equipment, one may choose an 802.11n wireless adapter, Firewire card, and an all-in-one card reader. The latter is able to read the popular removable media, including SD cards, Compact Flash, and Sony's Memory Stick formats.

Just like the previous version, the new Open (3) will include Mac OS X and its price will start at 9 in the United States.

The company also upgraded its OpenPro computer's standard configuration and now it has a 1TB SATA hard drive, 8GB of system memory and dual-DVI GeForce 9500 video card featuring 512MB dedicated video memory. The price of the OpenPro computer will start at $ 1154.99.
