Indestructible 2009 Camcorders from Panasonic

Jan 27, 2009
The first device from Panasonic was developed for those whose love to experience extreme conditions and enjoy recording on video during a rough trip. The new compact camcorder from Panasonic is called SDR-SW21. Its most impressive advantages are:

- it's dustproof;
- it's waterproof (up to 6.5 feet) in fresh and salt water;
- it's shockproof (it will work perfectly if you accidentally drop it from a 4-foot height).

Panasonic SDR-SW21 can record to SD/SDHC Memory Cards. It also features a 0.6 second quick start. The company will release its new gadget in April 2009 and its price is expected to be $ 400. This camcorder will be presented together with Panasonic's another brand new camcorder SDR-S15 which, besides being able to record to SD/SDHC has Intelligent Auto (iA) system developed by Panasonic. This feature makes it possible to automatically choose the most suitable filming mode, at the same time enabling the Face Detection feature.

With the help of Panasonics VW-BN1 DVD burner users are free to copy from the two camcorders straight to DVD without using a computer. Through "VideoCam Suite" one can easily upload videos to social networking websites. However, it is worth mentioning that in order to upload any video to YouTube, you must select the "Web" mode on the camcorder.

This year Panasonic increased its family of HDD models with an SD Card model. The 60 GB SDR-H80, 80GB SDR-H90 and SDR-S26 SD card camcorders from Panasonic incorporate a stunning 70X optical zoom. In order to provide a somewhat stable image when using high zoom, the camcorders feature Optical Image Stabilization technology.

"Before today, traditional camcorder lenses could zoom up to 50x, but with the extra 20x our new camcorders provide, Panasonic is the first to offer such a powerful solution," outlined Dennis Eppel, Vice President, Network Business Group, Panasonic Consumer Electronics Company.

In Long Play mode the 80GB SDR-H90 model can work up to 72 hours. The 60 GB SDR-H80 model is able to record up to 54 hours in the same mode. The two camcorders also include a slot for SD/SDHC Memory Card. All three camcorders will be released in April 2009 and the prices will be the following:

- SDR-H80 for $ 449.95;
- SDR-90 for $ 499.95;
- SDR-S26 has an SRP of $ 329.95.
